QonDam – “Of Sorrows and Dances”

Q o n D a m is an international ensemble based in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) specialized in baroque repertoire. It’s musicians met while on tour with the European Union Baroque Orchestra, and after that they immediately decided to continue their collaboration.
It’s musicians have played in festivals such as the Lucerne Festival (Switzerland), Holland Festival (The Netherlands), Styriarte Festival (Germany) and Ambronay Festival (France).

In 2018 they are presenting the program “of Sorrows and Dances“. Which traces an intertwining line between two contrasting affects. Mournful pieces that present elements about death and sorrow. Followed by original dances from the XVI-XVII centuries, that show the vitality of life. Representing the never ending and contrasting cycle of human emotions.

Mara Tieles – altviool
Cuban artist Mara Tieles is a versatile musician specializing in modern and early music. She has been the recipient of various international contests including the First Absolute Prize of Cittá di Barletta, the First Prize in the Rome Strings International Contest and the Third Prize in the Ibero-American String Contest.
Mara is the beneficiary of a long tradition of internationally recognized music performers. She began playing the violin at the age of 6, tutored by her father, a disciple of David Oistrach.

Konstanze Waidosch – cello
Konstanze Waidosch, geboren 1991 in Niederbayern, erhielt mit 9 Jahren ihren ersten Cellounterricht und entdeckte schon früh neben ihrem Studium des modernen Cellos die historische Aufführungspraxis für sich. So besucht sie seit 2006 regelmäßig internationale Lehrgänge und Meisterkurse für die Interpretation von Spätmittelalter-, Renaissance- und Barockmusik, Viola da Gamba und historischen Tanz u.a. bei Heidi Gröger, Alison McGillivray, Kristin von der Goltz und Buno Cocset.
Sie wirkte bei CD Aufnahmen des Ensembles Rayuela & Cordatum („Dolci Canti“), des Ensembles „EST“, “ Eroica Berlin“ sowie bei Projekten und Rundfunkproduktionen des Ensembles Lippe Barock und des Barockorchesters „Bachs Erben“ mit.
Seit 2013 studiert sie Barockcello an der Hochschule für Künste Bremen in der Klasse von Prof. Viola de Hoog und seit 2016 Nebenfach Viola da Gamba bei Prof. Hille Perl

Alba Encinas – viool
Alba Encinas plays regularly in and around Holland as a soloist and with ensembles such as Jeune Orchestre Atlantique,  Lutherse Bach Ensemble, Florilegium Musicum and Trio Nocturno. She has worked with notable  conductors such Philippe Herreweghe, Christophe Coin, Jos van Immersel, Patrick Cohen, Alessandro Moccia, Hidemi Suzuki and Sigiswald Kuijken.
Before moving to Amsterdam Alba received lessons and coachings from Igor Malinovsky, the Quartet Casals, Emilio Moreno and Lorenzo Coppola. She then began her studies in baroque violin at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam , studying with Sophie Gent, Shunske Sato and Kees Koelmans, and  receiving coachings from Alfredo Bernardini, Viola de Hoog, Jed Wentz and Maggie Urquhart.

Juan Diaz – violone
Juan Diaz studied double bass in Spain at the conservatories of Oviedo and San Sebastián-Musikene and, later, at the Folkwang University of Arts in Essen, Germany, with professors Niek de Groot, Matthew McDonald, Olivier Thiery, Wolfgang Güttler and Alexander Michno.
Juan has been member of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra Academy, the Castleton Festival founded by Lorin Maazel, the Spanish National Youth Orchestra and the Academy Orchestra Festival Hundisburg.
He has performed at events including the Manifeste-IRCAM in Paris, the Young Euro Classic in Berlin and the Lucerne Festival with musicians including Pierre Boulez, Matthias Pintscher, Wolfgang Rihm, David Robertson, Peter Eötvös, Pablo Heras-Casado, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Nicolas Crosse, Fabio Luisi, Rafael Payare, Alisa Weilerstein, Paçalin Zef Pavaci, Stefan Arzberger, Friedrich Haider, Pablo González, Nacho de Paz, David Ballesteros, Johannes Klumpp and Nils Mönkemeyer.
He has collaborated with other orchestras including Folkwang Kammerorchester Essen and Oviedo Filarmonía. At present he is a Masters student in the violone class of Margaret Urquhart at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam where he has participated in projects and masterclasses with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, the Dutch National Opera Academy, Sigiswald Kuijken, Jane Rogers and Robert Franenberg.
